Dr. Matt VanSlyke
Matthew VanSlyke is a physical therapist with over 12 years of experience helping people recover from injury, improve movement, and stay active for life. His journey into physical therapy started as an injured runner more than 15 years ago. After dealing with recurring pain and being told to “just stop running,” Matthew found a physical therapist who listened, created a plan, and helped him return to pain-free running. That experience inspired his career and fuels his passion for helping others overcome setbacks and return to the activities they love.
Since then, Matthew has worked in nearly every care setting—including hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and home therapy. This diverse background allows him to meet patients where they are, whether they are athletes, older adults, or anyone facing physical challenges.
Matthew’s mission is simple: to help people move better, feel better, and perform better. He focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of pain or limitations, then designing personalized treatment plans that improve mobility, stability, and strength. His goal is not only to relieve pain but also to build long-term resilience so his patients can stay active and healthy throughout their lives.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys running and has completed dozens of races, including six marathons. He also volunteers with the Wando Marching Band Props Committee and loves supporting his son Jackson. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and their three children—Jackson, Marlia, and Preston.
